Shopping process

New Zealand Gifts Mall stores use a "Shopping Basket" system which enables you to "place" one or more items on a list, whilst you continue to browse the store.   Placing an item in the "Basket" does not mean you are obliged to buy an item - you can remove, or add, items at any time.  Once you have reviewed the contents of your "Basket" and have decided you do definitely want to buy them, only then do we request your contact and payment details.  These are then transmitted to us using secure SSL technology.

2 common queries when ordering:

1. To change the quantity or remove an item from your basket please click on Baskets Contents at the top of page and amend the quantity of the item then press update or remove if you wish to delete that item from the basket.

2. If you cannot complete a field in the checkout order form area please put n/a or something similar so that there is an entry in the compulsary field concerned. Please note that an email address must be provided.

Do Cookies Need to Be Enabled in your web browser to Order?
Yes cookies need to be enabled in your web browser to place an order. MIVA Merchant, Our shopping software, maintains a shopper's Session_ID using a session cookie that is stored on your machine.
This Session_ID links you to your Shopping Basket. Each time a page is loaded, MIVA Merchant reads this cookie and keeps your shopping basket current. This is our only use of cookies on our site. No personal or shopping item information are stored in this cookie.

If you have cookies disabled in your browser, MIVA Merchant will try to read the Session_ID from an expected cookie file. Since MIVA Merchant won't be able to read the cookie, it simply creates a New Session_ID, and assigns a New, Empty Basket. This could be a problem, as you will continually find an empty basket.

You may freely browse our store without having to enable cookies. However, if you wish to shop online on the site, you must temporarily enable Cookies or select appropriate "trust" functions in your browser software to accept cookies for the NZ Gifts Mall website. Let me at them - how do I start?

Select the item(s) you wish to purchase.  There are three ways to do this.   You can:
Browse through our products using the category listings on the left menubar.
View a complete list of products, click on "Product List" on the top menubar.
If you know what you want, and want to go straight to it, click on the "Search" button and type in the name or product number. 

To see a comprehensive description about a product, or a larger photo, click on its thumbnail image or its description.


Okay, I know what I want, how do I buy it?

First decide how many items you think you will want to purchase in this visit to the shop.   If you're in a rush and only want to purchase a single item, click the "Buy 1 Now" button.   This is the fastest method to buy one item.  By clicking this button you are taken straight to the Secure Server "Checkout" section where you can double check your order, select your payment method, give us your payment details and be on your way. 

If you feel you may want to purchase more than one item, or just want to do a bit more window shopping, click "Add to Basket".  This adds the item selected to your "Shopping Basket" and you can continue browsing at your leisure.
When you add an item the quantity in basket for the item concerned changes from none to 1.

I've changed my mind!  How do I put it back?

Click on "Basket Contents" at any time to see what's in your basket so far.  Click on "Delete Item" next to the item you want to remove from the basket, then click "Update".  It's gone!

You can also change the amounts of items ordered on this page if you wish, and check on the running total of your proposed purchases.   Click "Continue Shopping" to go back to the shop.  

How secure is my order?

We use secure servers and secure socket layer (SSL) data transfer for strong encryption of all customer information. Entering a secure area on our site switches on the padlock (bottom right-hand corner of your screen). In your address bar you see 's' added to 'http' indicating encryption of data.
This means personal data entered at our site cannot be intercepted and read by a third party.
We switch to a secure server before requiring you to enter any credit card information.

Why pay by credit card?

Credit cards are used worldwide and accepted. They allow for quick and safe transactions. We use a Secure Server to process any credit card details to ensure your privacy is protected.  

Oh No!  I haven't got a credit card!

Yes!  We can accept cheques - but you do have to wait for them to be processed and we prefer payment by credit card.
Another possible payment option is paypal, please email us if you want to pay by paypal.
If you wish to pay by cheque or direct into our bank account please email us first and we can let you know our bank account details etc.Email

For non credit card orders please email us with all the details of your order and we will confirm the order by email and advise you about the alternative payment methods available which include payment direct into our bank account.


Right!  I've bought enough (for now) - now what?

Click the "Checkout" button at the top of the screen on the far right.  This will connect you to the secure server. where you can click on "account"to put in your existing account details if you have set up an account previously or you can create a new account if you wish to make your ordering easier and have your details saved on site for when you come back to shop next time.
If you don't want to set up an account then don't click on "account" & just complete the order form and press continue

In the order form area you will be able to view the contents of your "Shopping Basket" so you can double check that it is correct.  You will also be able to check on the total cost of your order. Delivery charges are NOT included at this stage.  Once you are happy with your order, enter your billing and delivery details and click "Continue".

Select your the shipping option that applies to your delivery address.This calculates the freight costs due on your order.

Next decide how you want to pay.  We accept Visa, Mastercard & Amex.
Make your selection, then click "Continue".

Next enter the card name, number and expiry date.

Underneath the credit card area is a section called Gift Message and Special Instructions.
In this area you can put your gift message,delivery date and any other special instructions you may have.If there are no special instructions you can leave this field empty.

When you have completed the special instructions section press "Continue".  Wait several seconds,That's it - its gone! and your order is processed.

You then will see the Order screen with a note about printing the order out.  We highly recommend this, as it has all of the details you have sent us, together with the precious order number.  This way, if you have any questions at a later date, you have all the details you need at hand.

We will confirm your order by email before we process the credit card transaction, so make doubly sure your email address is correct.  We automatically confirm your order to the email address you have typed in, so if you haven't received it within 24 hours, please email or phone us and let us know!

We generally deliver your precious goods by courier within New Zealand, so make sure you give us a street address.


Can I specify when the gift is delivered?

Yes, you can. We will attempt to deliver on this day. Saturday deliveries can only be delivered in the main towns and the are no Sunday deliveries.


What happens if the recipient is not at home?

Our courier will attempt delivery and leave a calling card if the recipient is not home. If they are still unable to deliver the gift and unable to reach the recipient, they will immediately inform us of the none-delivery and you will be informed that no delivery could be made.


Where can I enter special instructions?

If you have additional delivery information such as additional phone number etc, this can be entered on our order page when completing your order.


How can I change an order?

If you need to change the delivery details kindly phone or email us. Changes are required prior to the delivery date or you may risk that the order has already been processed and delivered.


How can I cancel an order?

If you need to cancel your order due to unforeseen circumstances, you may telephone, fax or email us. Make sure to have your order reference available.


How do I know if you have received my order?

Once we have received your order you will receive a confirmation email from us.

All purchases from this site are covered by the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 which guarantees that any goods purchased for personal use may be returned, if they are considered faulty, for repair, replacement or refund of purchase price within a reasonable period of time as defined by Act.

Privacy Policy:
To keep you up to date with specials, new products etc, we will retain your Name, Address and other contact details on file and send you newsletters of special offers and interesting gift information. We will not give your Name or details to any other person or company. If you wish to be removed from our mailing list please email us.

Delivery Instructions
No responsibility can be taken for incorrect recipient details and shall remain the senders responsibility. We will happily assist if notified early enough to check the details before sending the order.
